Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai, June 11 (Reporter Wu Yu) The "19th China International Mold Technology and Equipment Exhibition and 2019 Shanghai International Auto Mold and Forming Process Equipment Exhibition", which opened in Shanghai on June 11, spread information: China's mold consumption reached 255.5 billion yuan in 2018, accounting for about one third of the world's mold consumption, and mold output value also accounted for more than one third of the world's total mold output value.


According to statistics from the China Mold Industry Association, in 2018, China's mold exports reached 6.085 billion US dollars, an increase of 10.8% over the previous year, accounting for a quarter of the global mold exports. The exports cover about 200 countries and regions worldwide, with the top five export markets being the United States, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, and Mexico; The import of moulds was 2.14 billion US dollars, up 4.3% year on year, accounting for one eighth of the total import of moulds in the world. The top five import markets were Japan, South Korea, Germany, Taiwan, China and the United States in turn.


Mold is known as the "mother of industry". According to research by the China Mold Industry Association, the consumption of molds in China reached 255.5 billion yuan in 2018, which can support the production of industrial products worth 28 trillion yuan nationwide. It is an important component of "Made in China" and plays the role of a "behind the scenes hero" in the transformation and improvement of people's lives from being a "major national treasure". Taking the automotive industry as an example, the dependence on molds in automotive manufacturing has exceeded 90%, and more than 95% of mold companies in the country are involved in automotive molds.


According to statistics, in recent years, Chinese mold companies have accelerated their "going global" efforts, completing over 20 related mergers and acquisitions with a transaction amount of nearly 7 billion US dollars. The main direction of mergers and acquisitions is the intelligence, electrification, and lightweighting of molds.
